Appointment of Ronald Emerson
Mr Ronald Emerson CBE has been appointed as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Amsterdam Trade Bank (ATB).
Ron has held a wide range of non-executive and executive director positions in sectors such as banking, insurance, oil and gas, mining, and engineering. As Chairman, Ron recently set up The British Business Bank—a new economic development bank owned by the UK government—a role for which he was awarded CBE. The British Business Bank aims to increase and improve financing for small and mid-sized companies. Ron’s early career was with Bank of America and Standard Chartered Bank. At Bank of America, he held a variety of roles including Head of Corporate Banking for the UK and Financial Institutions Northern Europe and Head of Operations Europe, Middle East and Africa. At Standard Chartered, he was CEO of UK, Europe and Malaysia. He was also their first Global Head of Wholesale Banking, based in Singapore and covering more than 60 countries. He has also served as Senior Advisor at the Bank of England and the Financial Services Authority. More recently, Ron was Chairman of Fairfield Energy (a North Sea oil and gas company).
